We've had so much rain over the last 24 hours, the river's the highest I've seen it, for this time of year. It's gone from clear to a muddy brown colour.

The Hollyhocks have just started flowering

Nice butterfly in the woods this morning. It looks a bit like an Eastern Comma but the wing shape doesnt seem quite right. Perhaps I've discovered a new species.... now what shall I call it.

Happy to see this, this morning. It's a cast-off snake skin, which means there are still snakes in the garden. Up 'til now, all I'd found was part of a chewed one, presumably the work of the cat.

Trying some wildflower seeds in pots. They need to be protected from the squirrels by a mesh cover.

Somewhere beyond these trees, someone was using a chainsaw and I heard a few trees falling. It's con -servation area, so I guess they must have been removing the dead wood.

Didn't go for a walk today as it was very windy and pouring rain. The picture was taken about 7pm when the sun finally made an appearance.
