We were saddened to find a baby dove laying lifeless on the side patio this morning. Something had torn their nest apart, surprising since it was in the middle of a thorny rose bush. The parents were standing next to it, 'til they took off when we got close.
But it's not all bad news, we finally got some rain this afternoon, much needed.

The Bubster decided to come along this morning. He never goes down into the woods himself and he always stays no more than a few yards behind us.

I varnished the bench yesterday, so I was happy to see it looked a lot better than before.

Hey! a picture of me, that doesn't happen very often. Spammy's getting better and better with the camera.

Another beautiful morning... too warm for Bubby to move from his perch on the wall.

Spammy was happy to lead the way....

Wild Phlox has appeared, seemingly overnight, in any available space in our small forest. I really look forward to their appearance each year.

I was looking at the tree blown down last month and noticed these May Apples growing happily by the stump.
